East Lothian

East Lothian is famed for it's outstanding golf courses and stunning coastline.  With a network of local cycle routes and paths, the countryside is very accessible from the cottage and fresh air enthusiasts can enjoy most outdoor pursuits without having to travel very far. East Linton sits on the old 'invasion' route for the English back in the days of the relentless border disputes.  This has left the County with a wealth of history and the beautiful castles of Hailes, Tantallon and  Dirleton are well worth a visit.

Edinburgh is a 40 minute drive west or a 20 minute train journey from the local station of Drem (15 minute drive to Drem).  A trip in to Edinburgh is a must for all visitors.  It is a beautiful, atmospheric city, especially in the evening and if your trip co-incides with the world famous Edinburgh Arts Festival, it is definitely a bonus.
